Extra Light Duty Die Springs

These light green springs formed with rectangular wire high force compression steel, which are RoHS compliant.

Specifications:-

  • Suitable for a working temperature from -30°C to 120°C.
  • Steel (UNI 3545, DIN17221, DIN17223) with special cross section wires, which reduce stress levels.
  • Close controlled heat treatment
  • Shot peening & setting
  • Epoxy resin coating as standard - option Delta Tone 9000 on request.

10 Tips For Die Spring Success

  1. Consider the spring design options at an early stage.
  2. Ensure to work within the physical limits of the springs before the die is built
  3. Preload each spring when assembling to avoid shock loading, to avoid spring failure.
  4. Do not overlook possible damage from, heat, corrosion, metal chips.
  5. Consider if buckling maybe a problem
  6. Ensure the spring is kept square.
  7. Preventative maintenance should be scheduled.
  8. Replace all spring units at the same time.
  9. If a die spring does fit – avoid modifying but instead get a correct size replacement.
  10. Do not over stress / overload this will reduce the springs life considerably.

Die Spring Definitions

Hole Diameter: The OD = Outside Diameter

Rod Diameter: Springs are made to fit over the rod

Free Length: Length of Die Spring before any load

Preload: = Free Length of the Die Spring reduced by the assembled tool.

Operating Travel: = The distance from the spring length after the operating force was applied.

Deflection: = Change in spring length when force is applied.

Compressed Length: = Computed by subtracting the initial compression operating travel from the free length.

Solid Height: = Height when all the coils are compressed.

Remove Set: = Manufacturing process of closing a compression spring to solid to eliminate load loss in operation.

Permanent Set: = When the spring has load limit has been exceeded.

Elastic Limit: = Maximum compression stress that a die spring can endure without taking permanent set.

Load: = The force built up by compressing the spring.

Stress: = The internal force that resits defection under load.
